Exclusive: We can reveal that undefeated current super-middleweight king Andre Ward has sensationally agreed to face Danish boxing star Mikkel Kessler over in Denmark. Reports in Denmark indicate that both camps have agreed terms for the unexpected sequel and the fight will be announced within the next 24 hours.
The rematch will land on HBO Stateside and will be carried on PPV in Denmark with the most likely date being the first week of November. The pair clashed in somewhat controversial circumstances back in 2009 with four-time world champion Kessler insistent that the American had fouled his way to an 11th round stoppage win.
The news is a tad out of the blue for Kessler (46(35)-3) who has been inactive since a points loss to rival Carl Froch in their epic rematch battle last summer. The American lineal champion Ward (27(14)-0) has suffered some similar downtime although it is due to an ongoing messy contractual dispute with promoter Dan Goossen.
